Bread roller/ rolling pin
CL made a roller for me last weekend. We still have some leftover cedar lumbers in our back yard from making the deck. He knew that I've been looking for good roller for a while. He didn't let me to pick up one when we were in the Crate and Barrel. He said, that's not a good one in terms of shape and the weight. So he made me one. I really like the shape and it's much lighter than the ones I saw in the store.
We made Chinese dumpling skin by this roller! I have to agree with him this one is very easy to handle. I also like it's fine grain and the natural color. It looks so nice and it's a good tool.
I love the new bread roller!!
He also makes very good smoothie and pasta.
( sorry! scanner is still not working!)
Then, I made cinnamon bread for him and of course I used the new roller.
Have a nice weekend!

a sad thing

this is one of my favorite scarves! i just found that CL washed it yesterday! (dumped it in the wash machine and dryer,.......).
so this is lovely scarves is totally destroyed,........
i felt so so so sad yesterday! (it was a gift from my best friend.....she is living in London now,. i always feel that she is around because of this vintage scarf.) I felt that a part of me or memory has been chopped out....
Have been thinking to bring this to my weaving teacher and see if he would know how to make the same pattern. I guess I will him the picture instead next time...........

Somthing I really miss !!
My grandpa used to bring us before dinner snack. Steam rice with stew pork, fish flakes and pickles which wrapped nicely with bamboo leaf.
I don't see people do this anymore in Taiwan. Have you ever thought about what did we use before the invention of plastic bags, PET bottles, etc..........?
(I didn't mean the bamboo rice dumpling. It was like a very normal street food but they wrap it with bamboo leaves.)
I found this picture from pingmag. As always it's a very nice article!!

making & making

We went to a hardware store in little Tokyo! Yah!! we found the Japanese carving knife. I recycled some scraps of cedar which we used for our deck. I wonder where I can buy and find the scraps of teak, bamboo or walnut.....
I didn't apply any oil or bee wax. I like the natural look of it although apply the wax will enhance the grain a little bit.
It was a wonderful Sunday afternoon! Making things always makes me happy!
