a sad thing

this is one of my favorite scarves! i just found that CL washed it yesterday! (dumped it in the wash machine and dryer,.......).
so this is lovely scarves is totally destroyed,........
i felt so so so sad yesterday! (it was a gift from my best friend.....she is living in London now,. i always feel that she is around because of this vintage scarf.) I felt that a part of me or memory has been chopped out....

Have been thinking to bring this to my weaving teacher and see if he would know how to make the same pattern. I guess I will him the picture instead next time...........

i know how you feel about your beloved scarf...
my ex-boyfriend once machine washed and dried a missoni skirt...i was mortified!!
he thought it was a kitchen rag!

I completely empathize with you on this. I'm also very attached to my scarves. Wherever I go, I buy a scarf. It must has an interesting graphic pattern or extra-ordinary color palette...most importantly, it should have a good story.

My father brought back an exquisite dismaal scarf from Afghanistan and for years I would pair it with bold dresses or clothes and it would create quite a missoni look. Everyone thought it was super expensive...which it wasn't...but for me, the story of how my father found it....was invaluable. irreplaceable.

And then last month, I accidentally left it in bar, came back for it and it was gone! I have been devastated since.

It's like losing a part of yourself.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

may something new
come your way!

etsy上的開店日期 5/23 是不是寫錯了,是六月? I love your art & love your blog. Sorry about your beautiful scarf, maybe you should try to soak it in the fabric softener overnight, then shape/stretch it when its all soft and wet, and try not to rinse too much water out of it and just let it seat there until it is dry... I think this might help a little bid. Good luck!!

oops! polyin, are you right! i just make the correction.
the scarf is only half size of the original,. and it looks like a wool felt now, it already lost it's only pattern and texture.....
sigh........

Ah-Yi, you have a beautiful blog and I completely understand your feelings about the shrunken scarf, I have about 5 favorite pullovers who accidentally found their way into the wachingmachine. I am thinking since weeks about making a photo series on them, worn by my 6 year old daughter, I am not able to throw them away...
thanks for sharing. AG

sorry to hear abt the accident, i'm sure he did not do it on purpose.one thing for sure; we r born with nothing & we'll leave this earth one day with nothing...should not be too attached to material things too much.hope that we as human be more concerned with our souls instead.cheers!

Beautiful scarf with an interesting structure! Can't be sure if it's woven, could be some sort of band-technique by the look of the yarns crossing each-other...would be nice to see a close-up...
Very, very sorry for your loss...
